Wednesday’s threeball saw some fine playing from the low handicappers Mick Moloney, John O’Sullivan and Noel McCarthy to win the Nett while Billy Fitton with some help from Gretchen Ahern and John Curtin took the gross.
Mick Lehane is the man of the moment, like the Cork Players he has had a bad patch but is now performing at Senior Level playing some brilliant pitch and putt and if he keeps it up the little brown envelopes will be flying in all directions. Mick was in the winners enclosure on Sat and Sun respectively for the gross with Noel McCarthy on Sat and John Dineen on Sunday
Elsewhere Paddy Dennehy and Frank Riordan are both back in form having also gone through rough patches and both tick tacked on Sat to take the nett. Sunday morning saw the County Council duo, Tim Linehan and Dan Shine drawn together and taking the Nett by a comfortable margin.
The 27 hole threeball on Sunday night saw the long awaited return of P J Curtin to the winners enclosure with a magnificent 14 under to take the Nett with Noel McCarthy and the Club Coach John Ahern while Ladies Captain Pat Conway showed her mettle and led her team of Paddy Dennehy and Tim Murphy to the podium to claim the Gross. Rumour had it that Frank Riordan and Billy Fitton were playing hide and seek with Billy’s keys in the car park on Sunday morning and that Billy was speechless when Frank found them.
A super night was had by all who attended the Social Club Bar-B-Q on Saturday night hosted by Peter De Forbha with some superb food, great pints and for the more refined G & T’s in the new balloon glasses. The newly decorated bar with its ambient decor makes for a relaxed comfortable night out.
Dave Linehan’s, Presidents Prize is starting on Thursday 20th with a superb prize up for grabs for the winner. Normal fourballs resume over the coming week and the course is open to green fees.
