Results for the week ending 14/5/17:
Another entertaining weekend that brought a few surprise winners to the enclosure especially with the Saturday three ball which saw P J Curtin guaranteeing his team a win and like a good politician he delivered on same taking the Nett with Josie Twomey and John Dineen while the Senior Curtin (John) bagged the Gross with Mary O’Donovan and Pat Moore winning on the back nine from Gretchen Ahern, John O’Sullivan and Eileen Murphy. Wednesday was a different story as Billy Fitton was only in prep mode for his trip to Scotland and needed the winning to pay for his coffee on the Ryan Air Flight taking the Nett with Mick Lehane while Darren O’Leary took Gross with Pat Conway and Dave Linehan was in receipt of a little brown envelope with Mary O’Donovan for second nett.
Sunday morning saw the sunshine brigade out in force with Pat O’Keeffe and Mary O’Donovan taking Nett with a magnificent score in tough conditions while Pat Moore and Mick Lehane won the gross. P J Curtin donated some Large Kinder Easter Eggs which Sheila O’Leary all in pink with matching nails did the honours for the draw at P J’s request resulting in Mick Lehane, Pat Moore and Lakewood’s own TV Celebrity Valerie O’Leary just back from her appearance on the Late Late Show with Ryan Tubrity. the lucky winners. Sunday evening the course was playing very hard and resulted in low scoring in a bogey competition which saw John Curtin and Mary O’Donovan again in the winners enclosure for the Nett while P J Curtin and Betty White pipped Pat Conway and John Dineen on the back nine for the Gross
Lakewood are hosting the Munster Mixed Foursome on Saturday Next and the course is in magnificent shape due to the constant attention by the Greenkeeper, John Ahern and his enthusiastic staff John Curtin and John Dineen and also Billy’s Army who are painting the tee boxes on a fortnightly basis. Best of luck to all the contestants and especially to the Lakewood Pairings in the Competition.
