The Club held the J F Murphy Memorial League Competition on Sunday Morning and between the fine weather and the numbers that turned up and played in testament to John’s memory there was some very fine scoring. The format has changed over the years to take into accounts peoples availability and commitment hence the need to adapt. The competition takes the format of a 27 hole threeball with two scores to count with an open draw which saw Darren O’Leary, Paddy Dennehy and Catherine O’Keeffe entering the winners enclosure for the Nett and Rick O’Mahony, Pat O’Keeffe and Eileen Murphy taking the Gross.
Saturday saw Billy Fitton playing one of his better round due to the encouragement of Margaret Bowen and Josie Twomey who was the Anchor winning the Nett with a very impressive score while John O’Sullivan and Rick O’Mahony saw off the pretenders challenges ensuring that the gross stayed with the senior pairing.
Sunday evening finished off the weekend fourballs with Pat O’Keeffe and Eileen Murphy drawn again for the second time today and winning the Nett while Pat Conway back from her sojourn was in form to take the gross with John Dineen.
A lot of three balls of late with last Wed no exception resulting in Pat Conway, Mick Lehane and Noel McCarthy taking the nett while Frank Riordan, John Dineen and John Ahern bagged the gross.
Normal Fourballs next week and as its officially Summer the evening fourball are moving to the later time of 7.30 from Sunday.
