The Club hosted the Munster Mixed Foursome on Sat which was very well supported. The Weather was very mixed with some heavy showers and brilliant sunshine and depending on personal choices whether you put on the wet gear or not was down to an external wetting or an internal sweat job. The writer had the pleasure of marking the winning card and Vera McCarthy and Jim Ahern from Collins were very worthy winners, both played very steady throughout the 36 hole competition with Vera’s hole in one on the 15th making up for a missed putt on the 14th bringing their total to 13 up in very tough conditions. Mary Murray and John Tracy had the consolation of the gross prize with no showing from the host club in the winners enclosure. The course as always was in first class condition.
Sunday morning saw Ted Canty and Michael Healy taking the Nett from Noel McCarthy and Josie Twomey while Dave Linehan and P J Curtin took the Gross. Noel McCarthy made up for the missed putt on Sunday Night when he won nett with Eileen Murphy and P J Curtin was back for the Gross with John Dineen who invested some of his winning on the new Audi that he purchased.
Club Fourball Matchplay started Monday night and the final is planned for Wed 31st Normal fourballs over the weekend. Congratulations to Val O’Leary who was the Ladies Winner in the Rocklodge Open.
