Saturday saw a very large turnout which could be put down to the fine weather or the buzz in the air with the Ireland v New Zealand match. John Curtin was delighted to draw Rob Spillane and rightly so as with 7 under and John getting three of them returned a nett of 38 which was good enough on the day to take the overall. Alan Kenneally and Frank Riordan with 7 under took the gross while Billy Fitton waltzed Catherine O’Keeffe into the Winners enclosure for second nett on 40 and left the door open for Mark Spillane and Rick O’Mahony who took second gross with 4 under
Sunday morning another large turnout with people having an early night after the Irish defeat in France. Kevin Crowley was anchor to Catherine O’Keeffe and Rick O’Mahony taking both nett on 40 nett with Catherine and gross with 7 under with Rick. Pat Moore and Alan Kenneally with 6 under,8 in total but 2 bogies cost them. took the 2nd nett with 41.5. Michael Ryan nearly back to top form was there with Noel Mac for 2nd gross with 3 under. John and Geraldine Spillane, still talking after 18 holes together, took the 3rd nett with a score of 42.. Tadhg Hayes on his first outing this morning partnering Paddy Dennehy scored 2 birdies on the back nine.
Pat Conway is taking the Ladies to the Killumney Inn next Saturday for a bit of R&R after the 3 pm Football. Billy Fitton was sending Pat Moore in undercover but Betty White was on the ball and sussed him out, the beard was a dead giveaway. The course is closed to Green Fees until next April and again thanks to all who played over the Summer and supported the club. Membership for 2024 is available either online or an application form can be picked up at the Clubhouse.
