A surprisingly small turnout on Saturday considering the fine afternoon but then again Ireland were playing Romania in their opening match in the World Cup so it’s understandable that the armchair brigade stayed at home. Some tough playing and if you were unlucky enough to pitch the green you were guaranteed a six foot chip to get back for a putt. Tony Burke was the anchor for Rick O’Mahony and Alan Kenneally with Rick taking the nett with 2 under and Alan the gross with par. Betty White and Margaret Bowen took second nett. Sunday morning saw an improvement in the scoring with Mark Spillane and Eileen Murphy taking the nett with 2 under and 39 and a half nett while Bart Millard and Pat O’Keeffe were the gross winners with 5 under. Club outing next Saturday to Ballineen with a tee off at 10.30. Sunday the Peter Healy Annual competition is being hosted in The Ranges. Hopefully the weather will be good and best wishes to all the teams taking part and in particular to the Lakewood Representation. Well done to Rick and Alan who participated in the recent co Board scramble in St Annes but unfortunately the competition was a bit on the tough side on this occasion. The Over 55’s had their monthly outing on Monday, unfortunately Gentleman John was unable to attend but the Lady Captain made sure there were sandwiches and cakes on hand for the cuppa after, a good turnout which was enjoyed by all, well done to all the organisers and in particular to Tim Murphy. Course open to Green Fees.
