An interesting weekend again with lovely clear skies on the Saturday which saw a large turnout for week 2 of the Christmas competitions and the cold wet rain on the Sunday. Some interesting pairings which on paper would seem to be clear favorites but the pairing of Colm Healy and Kevin Crowley were the best of the weekend returning a very respectable 51 points on the Sunday morning to take the overall nett. Colm had a practice round on the Saturday which prompted him to hit the ball harder on the Sunday and with 7 under and Kevin picking up his shots saw them well clear of the pack. Billy Fitton was conspicuous by his absence on Sunday morning, but rumour has it that he was deep in meditation in George Boy style and with Rick O’mahony on Sunday afternoon took the gross with a super score of 9 under and 45 points. The AGM was held on the Friday Night returning the usual suspects to the Committee and Officer Ranks with Valerie O’Leary stepping down as Club Secretary and replaced by Bart Millard. Valerie was Complimented and thanked by the Chair and all present at the meeting for her efficient and competent work during the past number of years. Pat Conway and Pat Twomey were elected incoming Captains for the year and as it the 50th Anniversary of the Club they will be busy beavers, Gentleman John was re-elected for another term as President. Week 3 next week with the dreaded bogey making its first appearance. Membership for 2023 now open.
