Wednesday’s Fourball saw a very tough conditions with fast greens, hard surfacing, pins in very challenging places where the possibility of a birdie turned into a bogie. However it was the same for everyone and while some are going bad and failing to meet the challenge others breeze through. This was the case with Pat Conway and Mary Donovan who with one over, excellent scoring in the circumstance took the nett with a score of 43 while Noel Mac had the pleasure of Josie Twomey for a partner and with a score of 45 took second nett. Rick O’Mahony won his battle with the course and along with Kevin Crowley was in the Winners Enclosure to take the gross with a par score beating PJ Curtin and Billy Fitton on the back nine.

Frank Riordan and Sheila O’Leary are the dark horses emerging in the club handicap matchplay fourball having defeated Billy Fitton and Kevin Crowley in the preliminaries and sending Pat Conway and Gentleman John home in the quarter final are looking good. Mick O’Leary and Paddy Dennehy advanced to the quarter finals with a win over Betty White and Catherine O’Keeffe despite giving away 4 shots a round and will meet Bart Millard and Tim Linehan next.
