Lakewood Notes 10-04-2022

Beautiful afternoon in Lakewood on Saturday last which saw Frank Riordan in superb form making some classy putts for birdies and par and with Rick O’Mahony playing at the high standard we have come to expect from him they took the overall nett with 11 up. Pat Conway and Billy Fitton gelled well together but lost their Mojo on the 16th taking a minus and losing out on the nett but had enough done to take the gross with 5up.Margaret Burke and Kevin Crowley took second nett with a very respectable 8up while PJ Curtin and John Dineen saw the inside of the winners enclosure with 1 up for second gross. Sunday morning was a different day, different season , bitter cold and high winds but Rick O’Mahony and Niall Enright with 8 under took the nett with a score of 39 and a half. Dan Shine was the anchor for Tim Linehan and Catherine O’Keeffe and justified his cut on his last outing by helping Tim take the gross on 1 under and taking second nett with Catherine on 44 nett. PJ was back again with Pat O’Keeffe for second gross on par. Pat Moore put a smile on Pat Conway’s face when he got a hole in one on the ninth but that soon turned to disappointment when the fours started to appear on the card. Betty White was in the fourball on Sat with Frank Riordan and was delighted when she was drawn with him on Sunday morning but the big fry he had for breakfast didn’t do him any favours. Billy Fitton started well with Paddy Dennehy but fell by the wayside. JP Murphy is conspicuous by his absence on the course this weather but has let it be known that once the batteries are re-charged he will be making a triumphant return. Rumor has it that he has his sights set on the Club Strokeplay on the 24th of this month
