Lakewood Notes 3-04-2022

Saturday with the sun shining was a good day to make a return to Pitch and Putt as the sunny weather brings out the good nature in people and this was true of Mary Murphy who had the misfortune to draw me as a partner. However our playing partners, Valerie O’Leary and Billy Fitton were not affected and went on to take second nett with a score of par and 47 nett, Billy’s four on the fourth was the deciding factor in losing out for gross which was taken by Rick O’Mahony and Frank Riordan on 53. The overall nett went to Gentleman John and Alan Kenneally with a score of 41.5 while Eileen Murphy and Pat O’Keeffe took second gross with one over. The course is playing very hard at present as a number of players were observed in Billy Fitton’s opinion playing Military Pitch and Putt, left, right, left etc before finding the hole. Sunday morning it was decided with the balanced numbers to play a scotch stroke fourball which again saw some of the previous culprits back in the winners enclosure. Alan Kenneally and Pat O’Keeffe took the nett on 43, Niall Enright and Rick O’Mahony took the gross with 4 under beating Billy Fitton and John Ahern on the back nine but were consoled with second nett on 45. Tim Murphy and John Dineen took second gross with par. Next Sunday sees the Club Strokeplay and the start of the club competitions. All participants must return their cards or they may find themselves penalised under the new handicap system. Membership for 2022 is now due, the unofficial grace period ended on the 31st March. Course Open to Green Fees, all players paying are most welcome, payment stubs must be retained for inspection. Club Membership is also available and new Members are encouraged to engage in Club Activities.
