Saturday saw a nice even crowd which allowed another opportunity for a V-Par Stroke Competition as it went down the previous week. Some very good combinations and in comparison to a standard stroke competition the handicap adjustment offers a more fairer competition. Saying that it still resulted in two high handicappers taking the overall nett with Kevin Crowley and Mary O’Donovan taking the winnings with 4 under and 40 nett. PJ Curtin and Rick O’Mahony with 8 under took the overall gross thanks to Rick’s hole in one on the thirteenth beating Valerie O’Leary and JP Murphy who had to settle for second nett.
Sunday morning Stableford was the order of business which saw Valerie again in the winners enclosure with Alison Harvey taking the overall nett with an excellent 52 points while PJ was back with a change in partner, John Dineen to take the gross with 6 under while Gentleman John was blessed to draw Alan Kenneally and took second nett with 51 points. Dermot Murphy and Pat Moore took second gross with 5 under which included Dermot’s hole in one on the second and two fours from 4 bad pitches but that’s what brings us back week in and week out.
We have been blessed with the weather so far this year and it’s great to get out in the fresh air and with the numbers increasing and new blood joining the fourballs it’s a great opportunity to increase one’s social interaction. Membership is now due from existing Members with a large number already paid up to-date and application forms are available for new potential Members. Mighty craic and with restrictions on the way out , hopefully there will be some club socials including the President’s Prize, the Captains Day and Captains Prizes which are open to all Members.
