Week 5 of the Christmas Competition 2021

Week 5 and the standard is getting higher with so many cut at this stage and very few shots to fall back on the winners to-date are digging deeper to give themselves a chance. Darren O’Leary entered the Winners enclosure this week for the first time and did it in style taking the nett with John Ahern with a superb score of 52 points while he partnered Gretchen Ahern and took the gross with 44 points. Another dark horse was Tim Linehan who made Catherine O’Keeffe’s day taking second nett on 48 points on the back nine shooting 26 points. Catherine, already a winner, made sure of the extra shots to make the difference. Valerie O’Leary was seen strutting her new shoes on the course, present from Hubby Mick and made with Real Italian Leather , all the way from Rome with Francis seal of approval but she said it will take a week to break them in so watch this space for next week. Dermot Murphy thought he was getting a Senior player on Sunday when he was drawn with a scratch Pat Moore but after playing a few holes he knew differently. Rick O’Mahony and Deirdre O’Sullivan came close but they fell by the wayside on the back nine. Alison Harvey and Iain Moore were seen on the course but on this occasion their efforts were in vain. Three weeks to go with the dreaded Bogey next weekend and with so many now cut its wide open. Rumour has it that “Banksy” was apparently practicing his artistry by the 4th Tee Box over the weekend but the popular opinion agreed the Graffiti was a poor imitation Club open for membership and new Members are most welcome.
