Another beautiful week gone by which saw an increase in the fourball numbers which increases the chances of entering the winners enclosure. The High Handicappers Josie Twomey and Margaret Bowen took the nett on Wednesday last with a magnificent 52 points while the winner of the Gents Captains Prize had a very successful week taking the gross on Wednesday with John Ahern,, Saturday the nett with Margaret Bowen and Noel McCarthy, Sunday Morning in the company of PJ Curtin and Tony Burke and Sunday evening with John P Murphy who I was reliably informed had three birdies . Wednesday also saw the high handicapper pairing of Mary O’Donovan and Margaret Burke took second nett leaving the second gross to Val O’Leary and PJ Curtin. Saturday Frank Riordan, Gretchen Ahern and Eileen Murphy took the gross in Sweltering Conditions while on Sunday Bart Millard was in superb form helping Sheila O’Leary and Catherine O’Keeffe to take the gross. The ESB retirees were reunited after a considerable absence a, Noel Mac and Paddy Dennehy won the gross on Sunday evening with 3 under. The St Mary’s Competition has a new format this year with all the proceeds of the fourballs going to the school along with the green fees collected over the weekend. The Competition is scheduled for the August Bank Holiday. Course open to green fees and limited Membership is available from the clubhouse. Normal Fourballs next weekend.
