Results for Lakewood Pitch & Putt 27/9/20
Saturday the fine weather brought out a large crowd which again worked out so that a three ball competition with two scores to count was on the agenda. Some of the younger members joined in which from the club view is great as it introduces new blood into the game. One of the Younger members, Jack O’Keeffe was in the winners enclosure which was richly deserved as he played superbly and from information received he was the constant in the team which included John Dineen and J P Murphy. With 10 under they netted at 80 2/3 beating Val O’Leary, Frank Riordan and Rick O’Mahony by one third of a shot, however with thirteen under the aforementioned took the gross in comfort. Sunday morning another large turnout and again some new members were on the playing field. Some fine scoring overall but the combination of Mary O’Donovan and Josie Twomey were the nett winners with a magnificent score of 37 nett and three under while Mick O’Leary and Paddy Dennehy took the gross with eight under. Val O’Leary’s missed putt on the sixteenth cost them them second gross as herself and Betty White were beaten on the back three by Rick O’Mahony and Tim Linehan while Frank Riordan and Gentleman John took second nett with thirty eight nett with the last card putting Pat Moore into a tizzy reshuffling the cards as the card changed the winners order. Best wishes to Pat Twomey who set off on a long trip to Poland for his son Brian’s Wedding. Rumour has it that Gentleman John is thinking about trading in the Subaru for a Push Mower as he is rearing to get at the fairways to give them a trim.

Sunday evening Ann O’Herlihy put the skids under John Dineen and was successful in her motivation techniques as they took the nett with a score of 38.5 which was an improvement on her score in the morning while Mick O’Leary and Pat O’Keeffe made it look easy to take the gross with 7 under. Green Fees are closing on Wednesday but Club Fourballs will continue as normal until we are told otherwise. Membership open for 2021 which will allow use of the course for the remainder of 2020.
