The Three Public Sector retirees supplemented their pension on Wednesday with a magnificent display of teamwork led by the former Senior Fas instructor Frank Riordan who in true classroom style pushed his team mates to get the best return and took the nett in a straightforward threeball with Noel Mac and Paddy Dennehy with a superb score of 30 nett. Saturday some diehards showed up in the rain which saw a determined Catherine O’Keeffe taking the nett with Gentleman John and repeated the performance on Sunday afternoon when they were again drawn together. while John Dineen was there or thereabouts to assist PJ Curtin to win the gross. Sunday morning a substantial crowd showed up with some interesting combinations but it was the pairing of Valerie O’Leary and John Ahern who fought off the competition to take the nett with 52 points while Paddy Dennehy and Mary O’Donovan were there for second nett on 49 points. PJ Curtin and Sheila O’Leary paired for the umpteenth time were the gross winners with Sheila’s hole in one on the 15 making  the difference beating Billy Fitton on the back nine. The senior pairing of Josie Twomey and Bart Millard were dovetailing well with Josie firing in from all angles to maximise her points with some great chipping and putting, Rumour has it that she is getting secret lessons from Mick Healy as she was attacking the hole very successfully from off the green placings of up to 5/6 metres but unfortunately it wasn’t enough this morning. Pat Moore and Mick O’Leary were both back after a good rest but were only there to make up the numbers. Sunday Afternoon Rick O’Mahony substituted for John Dineen and helped PJ take the gross.
