Another year done and dusted with this weekend the last of the Voucher Competitions which saw John Dineen and Paddy Dennehy taking the nett with a respectable 9up and Val O’Leary taking the gross with PJ Curtin with 5 under. Val was in good form on the Saturday with some fine pitches and good finishing and PJ was providing plenty of motivational encouragement . John Dineen settled early but was annoyed with missing his shot on the 11th while Paddy was solid on the back six. Conditions were dry on the Saturday and Sunday morning but there was a nice wind coming from the North East which made play very interesting. Sunday morning a very determined Sheila O’Leary started well and made some very difficult threes and full use of her shots and also encouraged Mick O’Leary turning the corner with 4 under but the back nine wasn’t good to them. John Ahern was going well over the weekend returning two cards one with Paddy and the other with Josie Twomey with 8up but the fifth left him down on both occasions. Mick O’Leary and Frank Riordan also had 8up on the Saturday but it just wasn’t happening as there were periods in between when the putts didn’t fall the right way. Next weekend is the bottle competition with the good news that all handicaps cut for the voucher competition will be back to normal. Membership is now open for 2020, application forms are available either from the clubhouse or online. The Captains Day will be held over the Christmas Break , please check the notice board for fourball updates. The designated hole for December is the 15th.
