It was all to play for this weekend especially for the high handicappers that still haven’t found the winners enclosure, It was a comedy of errors on Saturday which saw JP Murphy and Tim Linehan reaching new heights in Lakewood. When JP pitched the 6th green little did he know what hidden talents Tim Linehan was hiding. The ball landed on the branch of a tree and between the jigs and the reels both Tim’s and JP’s clubs ended up on the tree with the ball. PJ Curtin was like the PPUI Match Official observing while Josie Twomey fetched the flag on the sixth and after Tim was launched up the tree, he flicked the ball and the clubs with the pin of the flag and like Tarzan zipped back down the tree and resumed play. Rick O’Mahony was the lucky winner of the hole in one competition, maximising both chance to take the kitty. Sunday Gretchen Ahern and George Bolton pipped Mick O’Leary and JP Murphy to take the nett with 51 points with 28 points on the back nine leaving Mick and JP with the vouchers for second nett. Darren O’Leary was in great form on Sunday morning scoring 7 birdies but his partner Paddy Dennehy didn’t come in to his stride until the afternoon when he shot 5 birdies but that’s the way the cookie crumbles. Pat O’Keeffe and PJ Curtin took the gross with 8 , six on the back nine beating Ricky and John Dineen who also had 8 gross but only 4 on the back nine. Bogey is back like the cold weather frosty and sharp next weekend.
