Lakewood Resulst w/e 15/9/19

Wed saw Pat Twomey, Gents Captain back in action after a long rest taking the gross with John Dineen while Pat O’Keeffe took the nett with 6 under partnering Pat Moore with a 41 nett. Pat O’Keeffe was definitely on fire shooting 5 under on the front nine and some steady play on the back nine from both saw them with a comfortable win. Pat Moore was seen venturing to distant parts of the course on a few occasions but was back in control by the halfway mark. Frank was unlucky on a few occasions and put it down to the ball being distracted on the way to the hole with people talking to it. Saturday afternoon Noel Mac was seen practicing for the Olympics with his sprint from the car park to the clubhouse  to get his name down for the draw and was very lucky to draw PJ Curtin. P J anchoring both Noel and Eileen Murphy took both nett and gross, shooting 10 up with Eileen and 4 gross with Noel. The sun was shining,  the greens were in great shape, wicked fast but very challenging, Frank was in  his shorts but that didn’t make any difference to Val O’Leary and Margaret Bowen who  took second nett with 8 up on the back nine from Gretchen and Mary. Club members were reminded to put their names down for the upcoming Peter Healy Foursomes in Inniscarra. Peter was a very prominent member of the Ranges and was Competition Secretary for the County Board for quite a number of years and this annual competition is dedicated to his memory Sunday morning fourball were the order of the day and Eileen Murphy, Pat Conway and Pat Moore delivered with six under and a nett of 87 while Frank Riordan and JP Murphy helped John Dineen to win the gross beating PJ, Sheila and Catherine O’Keeffe on the back nine. Sheila was seen in the sand on a few occasions which Eileen put down to her day spent in Youghal on the Saturday.JP was seen on the course in the early  hours of  Sunday morning swishing the green and trimming the holes. Sunday evening Val O’Leary made Gentleman’s John weekend taking the nett while Noel Mac covered his petrol costs taking the gross with Mick O’Leary. Normal fourballs next weekend.
