Inniscarra paid their annual visit to Lakewood this evening and as always a great night was had by all. With a total of 38 competitors and the open draw there were some tough combinations in play but Val O’Leary and Donal O’Regan took the Nett with 37 while Mick O’Leary and Anne Murphy were the gross winners with 6 under. George Bolton was the anchor for Alan O’Brien and Noel Mac taking second nett with Alan and 4th gross with Noel. beaten on the back nine by Pat Conway and Denis Lynch who both got a hole in one, Pat on the 1st hole and Denis finishing in style with his. PJ Curtin and Jill O’Riordan were the next best with 4 under taking second gross
Third nett went to Dan Shine and Noreen Cosgrove while Ladies Captain, Betty White took 4th Nett with Joan O’Leary. Betty drafted her sister and daughter Linda in to help out with the catering. Lots of sandwiches and goodies provided for the social chit chat on the 19th hole. tales of misfortune, bad pilots on the ball in flight and missed putts were the main topic of conversation including the 6 inch putt that Paddy Dennehy missed on the 14th, this info was given in the strictest confidence not for disclosure but some things need sharing. Ita O’Donovan gave up on Pat Moore who was missing putt after putt which he credited to one of those nights. Gentleman John was on the table at the start of the night and putting together the prize money at the end, sadly he was not in contention. The course was in perfect condition thanks to Pat Twomey, Eugene and JP and the greens were magnificent compliments of Mick O’Leary. Frank was in fine voice welcoming our friends from Inniscarra and not to be outdone Donal O’Regan responded on behalf of the visitors. Gretchen as usual was her efficient self sorting the cards as Billy is up the country sunning and swimming off the Mayo coast taking a well deserved break with Mairead.
