Noel Mac is playing super Pitch & Putt of late and it’s all down to the spectacles. Noel has finally got the putting right, well maybe the odd miss here and there but overall his putting is making the difference as was evident on Wed when he anchored JP Murphy and Pat Conway taking both the nett and gross. Josie Twomey and Gretchen Ahern had to settle for second nett with a great score of 38 but Noel and JP with 10 under netted at 36.
Saturday and a beautiful sunny day saw a good crowd in attendance which featured Noel Mac waltzing back into the winners enclosure partnering Billy Fitton for the gross just missing out on the nett to Sheila O’Leary and Mary O’Donovan on the back nine with both having 9 up. Speculation is rife as to what Gentleman John and the Lady Captain Betty White are planning as both were seen in cahoots lately which involved pen and paper.
The Club Strokeplay got great support from the Members with some tight competition for the graded places which saw a very popular Alan Kelly taking the overall Gross and Gents Strokeplay Champion for 2019 on the back 18 from Bart Millard with 10 under while Valerie O’Leary was overall winner and Ladies Strokeplay Champion with a superb 104 gross with Sheila O’Leary in the ladies runner up position Bart took the men’s 0-5 while Tim Linehan with 104 gross was the winner of the men’s 6-14 bracket
The Sunday fourball saw Gretchen Ahern and Eileen Murphy taking the nett on the back nine beating Billy Fitton and Tim Linehan on 48 points while Betty White and Paddy Dennehy were the gross winners with 4 under
