Frank Riordan got a good send off on his holidays on Wednesday with John Ahern and Alan Kelly combining to ensure Frank had some extra spending money by taking the nett in the evening threeball. Wednesday also saw Club President, Dave Linehan celebrating his 80th Birthday and rumour has it that he was partying into the small hours. Saturdays Fourball again for the third week running saw Josie Twomey taking the nett with John Dineen while Rick O’Mahony made Eileen Murphy’s day winning the gross on the back nine from Noel Mac and Val O’Leary, Noel’s 3 putt on the seventh was costly. Sunday morning a number of interesting combinations but the County Council pairing of Dan Shine and Pat Moore had a clear run to the winners enclosure with five under netting at 40 while the other half of the fourball Mick O’Leary and Alan Kelly took the gross with ten under which saw some great shooting from both players. Both players were dovetailing very well and the score could have been a lot better as both had wasted birdie opportunities. Betty White, like the Eater Bunny arrived early in the morning with a big box of Milk Tray but sweet toothed Billy Fitton missed out, apparently he was having a lie in after meeting his Lenten Target and a few bevvies on the Saturday
Sunday Evening Gentleman John tried very hard but no matter how many times he rejigged the card Mary O’Donovan came out tops to take the nett with Val O’Leary and Eileen Murphy was fortunate to draw Rick O’Mahony and took the gross. Monday morning saw a large turnout resulting in even numbers for a threeball with all 3 scores counting on the 18th. This proved to be the decider which saw Bart Millard, Noel Mac and Pat O’Keeffe with 12 under taking the nett in comfort while Val O’Leary, Pat Conway and Mary O’Donovan took the gross with 3 under on the back nine from Alan Kelly, Gretchen Ahern and Josie Twomey. JP Murphy was seen confidently striding after his ball on a number of occasions after putting like Kevin Ka but that’s where the similarity ended. Monday Evening saw the O’Leary’s back in the Winners enclosure with Valerie taking the nett with Gretchen Ahern and Mick the gross with Rick O’Mahony
Strokeplay Competition is rescheduled for Sunday next with the Club Remembrance three ball the Sunday after.
