Wednesday Girl Power in the form of Josie Twomey and Mary O’Donovan was the order of the day with both ladies combining to put the men on the back burner and taking the nett with a surplus to spare. JP Murphy was blessed to draw Gretchen Ahern who rose to the occasion and took the gross while the rest went home with memories of another time. Saturday a fine turnout mainly down to the final practice before the Club Stroke which saw Paddy Dennehy and Alan Kelly putting in an excellent performance under tough conditions to take the nett while Billy Fitton and Margaret Bowen took the gross beating PJ and John Dineen on the back three with Margaret’s birdie on the eleventh the decider. The Yellow Weather alert put a damper on the Club Strokeplay Competition which was deferred to another date hopefully sooner rather than later. The heavy rain put some of the main greens out of action creating mini swimming pools for the wildlife on the course. The Over Fifty Five monthly get together was also cancelled and rumour has it that Gentleman John was very disappointed as he had a cooking day planned for apple tarts, cakes and sandwiches while JP was organising the Curran Cake which apparently was pre-ordered at the last grouping. Normal fourballs next weekend with the Bank Holiday an added bonus. Evening fourballs at 7.00 pm.
