Officially we are in Spring but someone needs to tell Jack Frost that its time for him to move to another part of the globe due to the hit and miss on the weather. Saturday was a beautiful afternoon, Sun shining and the temperature in the double digits which saw a nice turnout for the Saturday game and as luck would have it an even number for three-balls with two scores to count. Gretchen Ahern on her first game since the Captains Day was blessed with Paddy Dennehy and P J Curtin to help her take the nett with 87 while Noel Mac for the third week running was again drawn with Pat Moore. Eileen Murphy also back after a short sabbatical made up the threesome and her birdie on the last hole ensured the gross with a score of104. Sunday a small crowd saw Pat Moore anchoring PJ Curtin and Pat O’Keeffe taking both nett and gross with 37 nett and 49 gross allowing for a second nett which was to the benefit of Frank Riordan and JP Murphy. Best wishes to Catherine O’Keeffe who is on a leave of absence getting some reconstruction work done setting her up for the many competitions planned over the coming year including the ladies social mornings that will be starting shortly. Sunday afternoon a number of stalwarts braved the cold, wind and rain with Ted Canty anchoring JP Murphy and Rick O’Mahony taking both nett and gross. Gentleman John is taking it easy this weather, rumour has it that he is sparing himself for the Captains Prize but Frank Riordan may have similar notions as it is believed that he is heading for sunnier skies to charge the batteries and top up the bronze effect compliments of Siobhan. Committee meeting deferred to the 21st Feb, Normal fourballs resume next week.
