An interesting weekend for Lakewood with a three ball on Saturday Afternoon and also on Sunday Morning with the same course but two different outcomes. Saturday Fourteen under on Saturday from Alan Kelly, Noel Mac and Paddy Dennehy wasn’t in the running as Pat Conway, Billy Fitton and Rick O’Mahony did the business with sixteen under to take the gross while JP Murphy, Margaret Bowen and Eileen Murphy took the nett with 80. Sunday morning Noel Mac made sure that he was in the winners enclosure by motivating his team of Frank Riordan and Bart Millard to a high standard leading by example with his birdies on seven, ten and eighteen and the important one on seventeen where the three scores counted. Frank and Bart both contributed with Frank showing off his chipping and Bart pitching the greens netting at 92. Betty White led her team of John Dineen and Sheila O’Leary into the enclosure taking the gross with a slight under-par. Sunday was probably harder as some of the flags and pins went walkabout but were back in place after a filling lunch for the afternoon session. Paddy Dennehy also felt left out on Saturday but himself and PJ rose to the occasion on Sunday afternoon to gross 11 under and take the nett with 34.Gentleman John was Master of Ceremonies for the weekend and decided to give a nett only on Sunday afternoon. Rumour has it that Mick Lehane is in hibernation but hopefully will be back shortly. Membership now due and the afternoon fourballs are moving back to 3pm from the start of Feb
