Wednesday saw a very poor showing with a small turnout however Noel McCarthy and Mary O’Donovan took the nett while Mick Healy again partnered by Frank Riordan were the gross winners. Saturday saw some stalwarts who ventured out in the bitter cold making the most of it and Frank Riordan was again in the winners enclosure for the nett with Sheila O’Leary while John Ahern and John Dineen were the winners of the gross, Sunday morning Gentleman John was back in form and played well with Pat Conway to take the nett while Noel McCarthy won the gross with Mick Lehane. Rumour has it that John Curtin is taking a sabbatical to rest his back for a few weeks, expect to see him back by Easter with his buddy Billy Fitton who is also missing, recharging his power pack, and no doubt they will be back in the winners enclosure as both have a sweet tooth for the Easter Bunnies. Monday morning a large number showed up with some serious scoring from Paddy Dennehy and P J Curtin at 8 under taking the nett with 37.5 while Bart Millard and John Ahern were the gross winners with 4 under. Monday afternoon saw a change in the weather and the little bit of sun brought out the fair weather players which saw Pat O’Keeffe take the nett with George Bolton while the Lady Captain, Catherine O’Keeffe was in the enclosure with Pat Moore for the gross. Normal fourball next weekend and with the clocks going forward it will be interesting to see who forgets. I heard that Pat Conway was seen with Chocolate Eggs in the clubhouse, its either prizes for the Easter Competition or she is organising an egg hunt but either way it will be fun.
