Saturday saw Rick O’Mahony partnering Gentleman John Curtin to take the nett with an impressive 52 points while Darren O’Leary went home with the gross with Noel Mac with 41 pts beating the pairings of Eileen Murphy & Pat Moore, and P J Curtin & Pat Conway on the back nine.
Sunday Morning Frank Riordan hosted the Lakewood Winter Pitch and Putt Competition while not quite as cold as the Winter Olympics in South Korea it was still very interesting to play in blizzard type conditions. John Ahern assisted by Pat Moore and J P Murphy made short work of clearing the snow off the greens which were remarkably soft considering the low temperatures. There were no volunteers when Frank looked for a volunteer to carry the Lakewood Flag, Gentleman John said he would chance it only for the fact that the oil would be very hard to get out of his shirt. The adverse conditions made no difference to John Ahern and Josie Twomey who claimed the nett with a magnificent 39 while J P Murphy and Ted Canty took the gross with 3 under.
John Curtin completed his hat-trick Sunday Evening with his third win of the weekend partnering another seasoned player Michael Healy to take the nett while Billy Fitton with a recharged battery was in the Winners Enclosure with the tanned Gretchen Ahern who is just back from the sunshine to take home the gross.
