Winning sometimes is about partnership and team performance. Saturday saw one of the better days so far in 2018 – 12degrees, no rain and the sun was shining and the numbers worked out so we had three ball with 2 scores to count. Perfect conditions except for the wind that seemed to be high blowing. There was some good scoring but some were a little better than others which saw Pat Conway in top form taking the Nett with Noel Mac and Pat Moore with 10 under to Nett at 84 and two thirds while Sheila O’Leary took the gross with John Curtin and Rick O’Mahony with 5 under and a clean card. Rumour has it that Frank is arranging special classes for Billy in the art of fencing having shown a dashing flair with the backhand stroke.
Sunday morning P J Curtin was back with a vengeance having been beaten on Saturday by one third of a shot took the nett with Tim Linehan on the back nine from John Ahern and J P Murphy with 13 up but both Johns did enough at 9 under to take the Gross. Noel Mac and Josie Twomey went home with 2nd Nett, Josie’s box of chocolates knocked the rest of us out of contention
Sunday afternoon Rick O’Mahony anchored Billy Fitton and J P Murphy but J P’s handicap was too great for Billy to conquer. With 11 under JP’s birdie on the 18 wrapped it up for Rick and himself netting them 39 to win on the back nine .
