Lakewood Pitch & Putt Club results for w/e 26/3/17, There was such a high standard of scoring on Wed last that the course was changed at P J’s request to make it more challenging. P J Curtin and Mary O’Donovan made it look very easy to take the Nett while John Ahern and Ted Canty won the gross. The Junior pairing of Margaret Bowen and Paddy Dennehy didn’t get a look in with 6 under and 11.5 coming off.
Saturday saw the dynamic duo Rick O’Mahony and John Dineen with their first pairing together this year on home ground winning the nett on a more challenging course while P J Curtin and Pat Conway were comfortable with the gross. Pat O’Keeffe and Frank Riordan were unfortunate to be beaten on the back nine by Gretchen Ahern and Dan Shine with the handicap advantage for second Nett.
Sunday morning the Intermediate Team lost out to Douglas losing 4 of the single matches to some very talented young players. Old Moore is under pressure to step down as Captain/Manager and the rumour from the Curtin Camp is that his contact wont be renewed. Best of luck to Collins and Fermoy who qualified from the group to make the semi finals.
Sunday evening was again good to Catherine O’Keeffe as she took home the Gross with the self declared Course Professional, George Bolton Jnr who holed the 8th in one while Curtin Senior helped John Dineen with his supplementary income by bagging the Nett.
Fourball as normal next week. Evening fourball will be moving to the later time of 6.30 in the coming weeks.
