Wednesday saw Frank Riordan take home the overall nett with Kevin Crowley on a scorching summer evening while the gross went to Pat Conway and Ted Canty. Saturday saw a good turnout which returned Kevin Crowley to the Winners enclosure with Josie Twomey with a magnificent score of 37 nett while John Dineen and Frank Riordan were the gross winners. Gretchen Ahern and JP Murphy took 2nd Nett with 42 . Sunday morning started well with a nice turnout but the heavy rains proved too much and the game was abandoned as a number of players had their clothes washed while wearing them. However the sun came back out to torment us. AQ little Birdie told me that Sheila O’Leary had a cracker of a game on Sunday Night with 10 under and 55 points she took the overall nett with Catherine O’Keeffe while Frank Riordan took the gross with Rick O’Mahony with 46 points.The Lakewood Open is starting on Thursday with a singles competition and continues on Friday. Sat there is a two ball scramble while Sunday is strictly scotch . No green fees this week due to the Open, The Course is in great shape and the greens are challenging.
