Perfect setting, perfect weather, you couldn’t have planned it better. What a Glorious weekend with the Sun Shining, a cool breeze , fast greens, a challenging course and tough competition, The Members came out in numbers to support the two popular Captains Pat Conway and Pat Twomey and for some there was no going home, the bug was there and the focus was on winning the main prizes. Bart Millard was the stand-in Competition Secretary covering for Billy Fitton who was otherwise indisposed but rose to the occasion with the help of Pat Moore and delivered the results at the Captains Bar-B-Que on the conclusion of a wonderful weekend of fun, pain and for some achievement. Catherine O’Keeffe took the 3rd nett with a score of 98 while Pat Conway took 2nd Gross gross with 121 while Margaret Burke took 2nd Nett with a score of 97. Deirdre O’Sullivan took the overall Ladies Gross with 118 while Val O’Leary playing some fabulous Pitch and Putt took the 2023 Lady Captains Prize with 6under and a nett of 88,Over on the Gents side Kevin Crowley after a long exhausting weekend made the winners enclosure with a great score of 9 up to take the 3rd Nett while Rob Spillane took 2nd Gross with 4 up while Alan Kenneally was the winner of the 2nd nett with 3 under and 15 up. Mick O’Leary gave a superb performance and returned 14 up and took the overall gross with 8 under but the Overall Winner of the gents Captains Prize for 2023 was Micky Ryan with a fantastic score of 16 up and 4 under. Rick O’Mahony took home a Bonus Prize for his hole in one on the 1st.A three ball before the presentation saw Alan leading Geraldine Spillane and Mary O’Donovan into the winners enclosure with 88 nett while Rob Spillane escorted Betty White and his father, John Spillane into the winners Circle for the Gross with 4 under some great shooting on a very challenging course. The Lakewood Open i8s on on the 22nd June and we would like to invite registered Pitch & Putt Members to test their skills on the course. Membership is closing shortly, the course is open to paying green fees and there are some planned activities to mark the Club’s 50th Anniversary.
