With the weather picking up and the temperature starting to rise so too are the fourball, Saturday saw a very good attendance which allowed for a second nett. Stroke was the order of play which suited Catherine O’Keeffe and Deirdre O’Sullivan whose combined handicap took the nett with a par score to nett at 39 and a half with Deirdre finishing in style on the 18th with a birdie. Alan Kenneally was in fine form and had the motivation in the form of Michael Ryan to score 5 under and took the gross with Pat Moore. Michael and his partner Noel Mac were unlucky for second nett as they were beaten on the back nine by Tim Murphy and Gentleman John with Tim’s one inch putt on the 18th making the difference.
We were all delighted to see Gentleman John back in action after a brief sabbatical with stories of his recent exploits. Sunday morning and another fine turnout which saw Kevin Crowley and Rick O’Mahony take the nett with a score of 53 points while Frank Riordan anchoring Billy Fitton took the gross with 41 points and second nett partnering John Curtin on 52 points, John Ahern took second gross with Tim Linehan with a respectable 4 under and 40 points. Sunday evening Pat Conway was in the winners for the Nett with Billy Fitton on 42/5 on the back nine and the gross with 1 under with Eileen Murphy while John Curtin was back again for 2nd Nett with Gretchen Ahern with 42/5Normal Fourballs next weekend, Membership still available and the course is open to paying green fees.
