Saturday saw the crisp sharp weather drawing the the hardy pitch and putters to the course like a magnet on the fridge forsaking the fireplace and the Ireland v France Six Nations Match on the TV. Girl Power in the form of Pat Conway and Deirdre O’Sullivan returned a card with 53 points  but unfortunately the combination of Gentleman John and Kevin Crowley with 55 points put them into the second nett spot while Alan Kenneally was blessed with the inform Paddy Dennehy and took the gross with 43 points. Gentleman John was lamenting his woes and the high cost of motoring which spurred his determination to play at senior level and encouraged Kevin to raise his game to recoup part of his expenditure. Gentleman John’s attempt to claim a new course record was scuppered when it was pointed out that this only applies to the Championship Course. Sunday morning saw very large turnout and again Paddy Dennehy was in top form and partnered by Billy Fitton took the overall nett with 41. Conditions were tough with the hard green and the fast pace which punished the aggressive players who attack the course with zeal and determination. Rick O’Mahony anchoring Tim Murphy took the gross with 4 under and second gross with Deirdre O’Sullivan beaten on the back nine for second nett by Tim Linehan and Pat Conway with 42 nett and both having 3 under. Membership open and anyone looking for a pastime with a bit of crack are most welcome to join and play. Family Membership is also available with some very affordable options.
