Mixed bag, weather wise this weekend especially for those of us who travelled to Cunnigar Pitch & Putt Course in Dungarvan on Saturday for the annual outing. The Sun was shining and it was pleasantly warm and Pat Twomey was seen working on his tan. The course was in superb condition, the greens were freshly cut and with Ann and Marie providing the tea and Pat Conway supplying the goodies. The singles competition got off to a good start but by the 18th most of us were worn out with the added exercise. John Dineen was going great guns until he hit the water feature on the 18th and the five he took after the drop cost him the gross and the back nine prize. Eileen Murphy on the other hand had no such problems and secured the Ladies back 9 prize. Deirdre O’Sullivan was slow off the mark but when she got into her stride had a number of back to back birdies which secured the 2nd Nett for the Ladies while Val O’Leary took the Gross on 59. Mary O’Donovan showed her Senior Status when she grossed a 60 and took the Ladies overall with 46 Nett. Over on the Gents Mick O’Leary was the best with a 4 under and 46 nett while Pat Twomey took the gross with 1 under and Paddy Dennehy was the winner of the second nett prize. Billy Fitton pipped John Dineen for the back nine prize .Catherine O’Keeffe gelled well with Mary Donovan  to take the nett in the Fourball  with 38 nett and also the 2nd Nett with Deirdre O’Sullivan on 40. Pat Twomey was back in the winners enclosure with Eileen Murphy with 1 under. Pat O’Keeffe and Valerie O’Leary took second gross on par beating Mick O’Leary and Margaret Bowen on the back nine. A good number went out for Round 3, consisting of a three ball scramble which saw mary O’Donovan on a hat trick and along with Paddy Dennehy and John Dineen took the nett with a score of 32 while Deirdre O’Sullivan showed Betty White and  Dermot Murphy the way to the Winners Enclosure taking the gross with 7 under. Pat Moore and Con O’Sullivan among others were seen fishing for balls on the 18th which begged the thought were they on a Pitch & Putt Outing or part of a Fishing Adventure. Next Competition is St Mary’s with all proceeds going to this worthy cause and then its the trip away to Inniscarra Pitch & Putt Club. Course still open to Green Fees but with the evenings drawing in and the weather changing the clock is running.
