The weekend fourballs saw the high handicappers doing very well with the hard condition of the course and with stroke play and stableford the order of play it was in their favour. Saturday saw Mary O’Donovan and Valerie O’Leary taking the nett with 43.5 while Pat Conway and Rick O’Mahony were gross winners with 3 under. Michael Ryan and Margaret Bowen took second nett and Pat Moore was in the winners enclosure with PJ Curtin for second gross. Sunday morning Catherine O’Keeffe had a stormer and with John Ahern providing back up support took the nett with 50 points scoring 28 on the back nine while Bart Millard made sure that Noel Mac got petrol money for the week by taking the gross prize with 3 under. Betty White playing superbly took second nett with Margaret Bowen on 49 points. Some dark horses are heading into the semi-finals of the combined handicap match-play including Pat Twomey and Margaret Burke who beat Eileen Murphy and Tony Burke. while Frank Riordan and Sheila O’Leary edged out Pat Conway and Gentleman John with Frank making a mad burst on the final holes with 2 birdies on the trot. Frank & Sheila will meet John Ahern and Alan Kenneally who dovetailed very well and knocked Pat Moore and Valerie O’Leary out of the competition with Alan putting like a machine at every opportunity. Mick O’Leary and Paddy Dennehy are meeting Bart Millard and Tim Linehan with the winners to meet Pat & Margaret in the semi final. The Final is set for Friday next and a good turnout is expected. Course open to Green Fees and as the nights are closing in the course will be closed at 8pm.Normal Fourballs on Sat & Sunday and the Club Outing to Cunnigar is the following week.
