Confined Members Week 2022

The Club organised a Confined Members week which included a 2 Ball Scramble, a 36 hole stroke singles competition and concluding with a Captains Day on the Saturday. This is not to be confused with the Captain’s Prize which is a separate competition and is scheduled for July.

Wednesday saw the inform Bart Millard partnered with Mary O’Donovan and Jeepers who finished 9 under and took the overall nett with a magnificent 37 nett. Valerie O’Leary having recovered from her outing to Bishopstown was in superb form and took the gross with Rick O’Mahony on 9 under. Alan Kenneally and Colm Healy lost out by one for the overall nett but took the consolation second nett with 38 while John Ahern and Michael Ryan claimed the second gross with 4 under pipping Noel McCarthy and P J Curtin on the back nine. Deirdre O’Sullivan and Mick O’Leary won the 3rd nett with a score of 3 under and 42 nett.

Colm Healy took the Gents Nett in the Singles Competition on 87 nett which was a mighty score under very tough conditions with the championship course in play even though Alan Kenneally and Niall Enright tried very hard to beat his score while Colm’s brother John took the Gents Gross with 6 under. Betty White led the Charge for the Ladies and took the Nett with a score of 96 while Gretchen Ahern was the Gross Winner.

Well done to all who participated and congratulations to the Winners.

The Captain’s Day scheduled for Saturday was deferred until further notice however the fourball went ahead which saw Michael Ryan and Eileen Murphy take the nett with 47 points while PJ Curtin and John Dineen were gross winners on 39 points. Pat Conway and Time Linehan took second nett with 46 points. Sunday’s threeball again featured Pat Conway and Michael Ryan along with Newcomer Shane O’Neill in the winner’s enclosure for the nett while Betty White motivated John Curtin and John Dineen and took the gross in very difficult conditions as the course while in magnificent condition is playing very hard at the moment.

The Club extends deepest Sympathies to Betty and the O’Connor family on the recent passing of Pat a former Club Officer and one of the original founding members. Pat was a true Gentleman and as Competition Secretary was highly efficient with organising club events and competitions and was great at procuring sponsorship. Rest in Peace.
