Lakewood 19th June 2022

Mixed blessings this weekend between the weather, what was forecast and what we got were poles apart and the difficult course which was highlighted in the winning scores. Saturday was more like a nice March day rather than the middle of summer but a sizable crowd showed up resulting in Darren O’Leary partnering Alan Kenneally and with seven under netting at 40 took the overall nett while Noel McCarthy and Rick O’Mahony took the gross with one under. Val O’Leary and Pat Moore were 2 under playing the rectangle and with the high grass on the surrounds Val was unable to chip out, losing two shots and settling for par while Pat Moore was doing a bit of sightseeing. Mrs Curtin’s boys were again drawn together and took second nett with a score of 45. Sunday morning with a slight improvement in the weather and the numbers doubling it was another venture to beat the course. The Gents Captain made some slight changes making it slightly easier but again the scores were reflective of the challenge of the course. Alan Kenneally and Sheila O’Leary took the nett with 43 nett while Pat O’Keeffe took second nett with Mary Murphy on 44.5. Darren O’Leary featured again this time for the gross with Bart Millard with 5 under while Billy Fitton took second gross with Rick O’Mahony. Sunday evening another small crowd saw Billy Fitton back with Noel McCarthy for the Gross with 4 under while Noel McCarthy was also anchoring John Curtin and took the nett with 41 leaving Mary O’Donovan and PJ Curtin with second nett.Club week starts on Wednesday with a scramble and singles on Thursday and Friday and the Captains Day on Saturday starting at 1 pm.
