Lakewood Week 6, 2021 Christmas Competition

Wednesday was one of the best days weatherwise in November and true to form a good crowd showed up to test their skills against the course. The playing was very tough with the holes changed but Frank Riordan and Noel McCarthy with 6 under, took the nett scoring a very respectable 38.5  while PJ Curtin and Pat Conway took the gross.

Week six of the Christmas competition saw a lot of mixtures and a number on 10 ups with Frank and Noel drawn on Sunday morning, Tim Murphy and Dermot Murphy on Sunday evening but Bart Millard and Sheila O’Leary had 11 thanks to Bart’s hole in one on the second where he was losing a shot but the hole in 1 earned him a plus. Rick O’Mahony fresh after his booster shot anchored Pat Moore and Gretchen Ahern and showed why he is in the senior ranks with a solid performance scoring seven birdies. The sixth was very unkind to Rick and Gretchen with a four resulting in Pat entering the winner’s enclosure with Rick. Both Pat and Gretchen had opportunities, but the conversations were scarce with the ball refusing to get into the hole.

Next week it’s back to stroke and again it will depend on the draw with a number of plus players in the equation but there are still a large number of the uncut and the right partnership should be in the running for the nett.

John Curtin and Frank Riordan took the winnings for the November hole in one. Membership now available for 2022.
