Week 4 Christmas Competitions 2021

Lakewood held their AGM on Monday 7th Last where congratulations were bestowed on Valerie O’Leary who took over the reins from Gretchen Ahern as Secretary in 2020. Frank was on the missing list but was elected for another year in absentia. The usual subjects were returned with President John Curtin leading the charge ably assisted by Pat Conway. Pat Moore, Paddy Dennehy and Billy Fitton who were elected into their existing roles while Pat O’Keeffe and Deidre O’Sullivan were elected unanimously as incoming Captains. Outgoing Captains Bart Millard and Eileen Murphy were congratulated on a job well done in the current circumstances. Wednesday’s four ball was full of excitement when John Aherns ball was stolen by a stray Cockapoo. Rumour has it that the Cockapoo was under instruction from Catherine O’Keeffe, Gentleman John, fresh after his re-election, is looking at joining the Senior ranks with 2 holes in one for this month so far and I have it on good authority that he is playing superb stuff at present which saw him entering the winners enclosure with JP Murphy to take 1st nett with a score of 38.5 nett. Rumour has it that P J Curtin is currently carrying out Performance Assessments and has issued a few PIP’s Performance Improvement Plans. Some superb shooting this week resulted in Paddy Dennehy and PJ shooting 8 under to win the gross while Kevin Crowley put a smile on Deirdre O’Sullivan’s face to win the 2nd nett with a score of 39.5 which included a hole in one on the 8th. Congratulations to Darren O’Leary who was conferred with a Masters from Professor John O’Halloran, President of UCC on Sunday last in the presence of his very proud parents, Mick and Valerie along with his brother David. Stableford next week, Membership is now open for 2022.
