The Weather forecasters got it wrong again which to all of us was a Godsend as we had the benefit of a weekend in Sunny Lakewood. Saturday Gentleman John again rose to the occasions when he partnered Josie Twomey and between them returned a 35.5 Nett, excellent shooting for two high handicappers giving a return of 4 under while John Dineen partnering Eileen Murphy won the gross with 5 under.Sunday Morning and again another planned 27 hole brought out a magnificent crowd which saw some interesting combinations but it was Rick O’Mahony and Margaret Burke who took home the bacon shooting a gross of 5 under to  nett at 59 while Billy Fitton and John Ahern took the gross with 11 under. PJ Curtin and Margaret Bowen took second nett on the back nine with the higher handicap coming into play to beat Val O’Leary and Dermot Murphy with a score of 60. However Val and Dermot had 9 under which was good enough to take the second gross with Mick O’Leary and Tony Burke losing out.Pat O’Keeffe and Tim Linehan dovetailing very well but the 5 on the 6th first time around killed their card even though Pat had a hole in one on the 7th  to cancel it out but as we all know it doesn’t work that way. Some fabulous shooting on Wednesday last saw Mick O’Leary in fine fettle shooting a 33 nett with Gentleman John and 16 under with Rick O’Mahony while JP Murphy and Paddy Dennehy had to settle for 2nd Nett with a magnificent 34 nett which on any other time would be a clear winner but thats life. Normal fourballs next weekend and then the week after Gentleman John is commandeering the course for the President’s Prize and a little birdie told me he has two special prizes for the best back 9’s for the gents and ladies that miss out on the prizes.

Course is open to Green Fees but will be closed on Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th to non-Members.
