One could be forgiven if they woke up on Saturday and thought they had went on a foreign holiday such was the beautiful day that was and it continued right over the whole weekend with Sunday well into the mid 20’s. A great crowd on Saturday saw some very good shooting but it was the combination of Frank Riordan and Valerie O’Leary that were in the money with a magnificent score of 8 uner to nett at 37 while Eileen Murphy played her part in supporting Rick O’Mahony to take the gross with 8 under on the back nine leaving second nett to Paddy Dennehy and Mary O’Donovan. Sunday Morning newcomer Tony Burke drew Bart Millard and raised his game to take the gross with 7 under. A scorcher of a morning with the sun belting down but Tim Linehan is well used to those conditions and ably assisted by Gentleman John took the nett with 38.5. On this occasion Frank had the pleasure of the course expert JP Murphy and took second nett scoring 5 under to nett at 39. Frank said he was feeling embarrassed to be in the Winners enclosure so often but John Ahern was on hand to advise him to set his standards to ensure he should be aiming to be in the winners enclosure for every competition. Sunday night saw PJ Curtin making an appearance after a frustrating weekend to take the nett with Rick O’Mahony with 10under to nwtt aT 38.5 while Eileen Murphy and Mick O’Leary teamed up to take the gross with 8 under.All Lakewood Juveniles are invited to play in the Juvenile Competition organised for Saturday 15th August under the supervision of the Juvenile Officer, Darren O’Leary and Gents Captain, Pat Moore. Thanks to the Sponsors of the event who wish to remain anonymous in the background.
