On Saturday a combination of skill and experience saw Noel Mac and Darren O’Leary winning the gross with 7 under while the Lady Captain, Josie Twomey celebrated the Nett win with Sheila O’Leary bringing in a score of 39 nett while Betty White made sure that Dermot Murphy had pocket money for the weekend taking the second nett with 40 and Billy Fitton took second gross with Rick O’Mahony with 5 under including Rick’s hole in one on the first.
Sunday morning saw a fine turnout with Billy Fitton conspicuous by his absence but PJ Curtin was there to prove to Sheila O’Leary that the recent run of unmentionables was over and that his game was back on par by taking the nett with the man from Donoughmore, Dan Shine, while Bart Millard and John Ahern dovetailed well to take the gross with 6 under leaving the second nett to the former Girl Guides Eileen Murphy and Catherine O’Keeffe who pipped Mary O’Donovan and Val O’Leary on the back six, Eileen’s 2 on the 18th making the difference. JP was fighting with the course which wasn’t favourable to him considering the loving care and nourishment that he puts into it.but all will be forgiven by next week.
