Hard to believe the evenings are closing in, seems like yesterday that we were having the evening fourball but time is moving so fast. Wednesday last Paddy Dennehy had a huge advantage with the senior pairing of Margaret Bowen and Mary O’Donovan in his corner he was a comfortable entrant into the winners enclosure with a nett of 83, three-ball competition with 2 scores to count. Saturday the Ladies Captain was entertaining her girls with some lovely baking, cookies, apple tarts, fruit cake, homemade scones in preparation for the trip to Blarney for a knees up , some drinkies and good food. Saturday Evening a few of the lads showed up for a game resulting in PJ Curtin taking the nett with Catherine O’Keeffe while Pat Conway and Gretchen Ahern were the gross winners. Rumour has it that Betty and the girls had a ball on Saturday Night. Some of the ladies were conscious of the early start on Sunday with the Peter Healy competition in Inniscarra and were seen pacing themselves but those that were guaranteed a lie in took full advantage. With the number of teams taking part in Inniscarra on the Sunday morning there was very little activity on the home course. Those that travelled and took part were given a very warm welcome by the Inniscarra Club. The course was in great shape and fair play to Neilius he has the greens in top condition. There was some great scoring, some what ifs but overall everybody seemed to have a good morning. JP and Mary O’Donovan had a great first round and JP clicked again with Josie but the going didn’t suit Gentleman John and Josie who saw their pluses slip away on the back nine. Pat Moore and Pat Conway got off to a bad start but once settled returned a fairly good card with Pat Conway scoring a hole in one on the sixth. Frank and Sheila found the first round hard going but both settled for the second resulting in an impressive 24 up overall. PJ wasn’t in form for the first round with Eileen but made up for it on the second with Betty while John Dineen was dropping the ball short time and time again. Sunday evening a small crowd turned up for the fourball but the conditions were pleasant and enjoyable. Normal Fourballs next weekend and hopefully the numbers will be back to normal. Frank and Betty are just back from their sun breaks but Sheila is going on the missing list as she is heading off to warmer parts to top up the tan and get ready for the Winter. Billy was seen in Glasgow over the weekend and rumour has it that he may be taking to wearing the Kilt, weather dependent.
