Wednesday while the crowd was small the standard was high with Noel Mac and JP Murphy shooting a nett of 36 and taking the nett by a shot from Pat Conway and Mary O’Donovan. The forecast for the weekend was appalling with Saturday appearing to be the best but as it turned out there was a drizzle on Saturday and the skies were blue on the Sunday. Pat Moore and Margaret Bowen took the honours on Saturday with four under and a nett of 38 while PJ Curtin and John Dineen took the gross. Mary and Pat Conway were drawn together again but Mary left her magic ball at home and the replacement was very apprehensive about dropping into the hole as it skipped past time and time again. Pat Conway was alos very unlucky as she had numerous chances that would have paid dividends on other day but alas Saturday was not the day.Sunday Morning there was a large crowd on the course as Castleisland paid a visit to use the course facilities and a bit of craic. Gentleman Joh was the anchor to Pat Moore and Billy Fitton. Pat and Billy were neck and neck with the both taking the lead on a few occasions and Gentleman John making full use of his shots which worked in Billy’s favour as it went down to the last hole which  Billy birdied to take the overall nett with 52 points. PJ Curtin again was in the winners enclosure taking the gross with 8 under partnering Tim Linehan.Sunday evening PJ made it three in a row winning the gross with Sheila O’Leary while Billy Fitton and Rick O’Mahony with 10 under took the nett.Normal fourballs next week and the afternoon fourballs commence at 3,00 pm. The course is still open to Green Fees but with the evenings getting shorter and the change in the weather time is running out
