Back to normal this week, normal being standard fourballs, green fees on the course, watering the greens in the evening and Mick back from his hols. JP was looking after the greens and apparently he’s down a half stone. Wednesday saw John Ahern and Josie Twomey taking the nett while Tim Murphy and JP took the gross. Saturday Frank organised a 27 hole fourball which was very challenging as the temperature soared to 27 degrees and the greens were extremely hard and fast but that didn’t deter Paddy Dennehy and JP Murphy who took the nett while Val O’Leary and Betty White were the gross winners. A great night was had in the bar on Saturday Night organised by the Social Club which saw some mighty craic, good food from the barbeque mixed with Pauline’s potatoes and washed down with fine ale from the taps and the music provided by the Carney Family was simply beautiful.
Sunday morning Val O’Leary was back in the winners enclosure with John Ahern with a great score of 40 nett while Bart Millard and Ted Canty took the gross with five under and Sheila O’Leary put some pocket money in Gentleman John’s pocket in appreciation of the fine play with his two birdies to take second nett. Sunday evening Val O’Leary completed her hat trick taking the nett in a three ball scramble along with Pat O’Keeffe and Gretchen Ahern.
