Wednesdays fourball saw the ladies taking the nett with Pat Conway, Mary O’Donovan & Josie Twomey netting at 83 while Helen O’Callaghan , Frank Riordan and Gentleman John took the gross with 3 under.
The weekend brought some interesting scoring considering that Pat Twomey, Mick O’Leary and the team had hollow-thinned the greens in readiness for the upcoming season and liberally coated the greens with sand during the week.. However on Saturday P J and his magic ball birdied 9 of the holes and with JP’s contribution took the nett with 36. PJ was shimmying so much that he was like Mr Bojangles with the silvery hair and the baggy pants tucked inside the shoes and jumping so high that every time PJ birdied he couldn’t help himself he just danced and danced. Noel Mac and Mick Healy lost out by 1/2 a shot for nett but pipped Rick O’Mahony and John Dineen for the gross with 7 under on the back nine. Bart Millard and Pat Moore shared the kitty for the Feb hole in one competition. Sunday morning Bart was in great form and took the nett with Noel Mac and Josie Twomey shooting 11 under to nett at 81 while Frank led John Dineen and JP “Bojangles Murphy” into the winners enclosure for the gross. It definitely seems that the dancing is working wonders for JP as his hip action is greatly improved. which showed when he came back in the afternoon and shot 5 under to nett at 43 to waltz his way into the winners enclosure for the third time over the weekend with John Dineen while Rick O’Mahony made sure of the gross with Billy Fitton.
