Wednesday a small crowd showed up but it was still good scoring from JP Murphy and Sheila O’Leary that took them into the winners enclosure and sent them home with the prizemoney. It wasn’t the only thing JP took home as he spent the rest of the week in bed with the flu. Saturday Pat Conway was in cracking form starting on hole thirteen and leaving herself a two inch putt for a birdie and a plus but just missed out on the voucher for the monthly designated hole, two inches more and she was guaranteed. Anchoring Pat Moore and Ted Canty she took the nett with ten up with Pat Moore including his hole in one on number one.but lost out with Ted Canty for the gross by taking a four on hole eleven which cost them as they were beaten on the back nine by John Dineen and PJ Curtin. Sunday morning saw Billy Fitton partnering Gretchen Ahern and taking the nett with 50 points. Gretchen brings out the best in Billy as this was one of his better games this year. P J and Josie Twomey were leading in the clubhouse for a short period but settled for the gross with five under. A challenging weekend with the swirling wind but the course is in magnificent shape thanks to the ground staff. and it was all about making the greens. Plans are in place for the hollowtining of the greens on Saturday week so all able bodied members are asked to give a hand.
Normal fourballs continue next week. Membership is now overdue so if you haven’t paid do so now, the period of grace has expired.
