Paddy Dennehy was the man on Wednesday when he delivered for Mary O’Donovan and took her into the Winners Enclosure ensuring that she had extra spending money for the morning coffee on her trip to the Canaries while Ted Canty was in fine fettle and took the gross with Frank Riordan. Saturday Paddy Dennehy was again in the winners circle taking the nett with Eileen Murphy and Alan Kelly on the back six while Catherine O’Keeffe, Pat Conway and Betty White showed a touch of the Spice Girls with Saturday Night Divas and rocked the course to take the gross with Pat (Scary), chipping, Betty (Posh) putting and Catherine (Baby) tactics each showing off their specialist skills. Sunday morning Betty was back with Noel Mac for second nett while Mick O’Leary was the gross winner with P J Curtin on 6 under but the overall winners with a magnificent score of 48 nett for 20 holes were Val O’Leary and Tim Linehan. P J was explaining the finer etiquette of marking the card to Valerie but was on a loser from the start as the end result had the same value.
Sunday afternoon Paddy Dennehy with a touch of Wayne Rooney completed his Hat-Trick and waltzed Josie Twomey around the winners enclosure with 47 points on the back nine while Rick O’Mahony strutted with Gentleman John winning the gross on 39 points. Billy Fitton had to settle for chocolates and everyone else left with mixture of memories. Members are asked to pay their subs before the end of January to be eligible for Club Competitions.
