The Christmas competitions finally ended on Sunday with the Bottle Competition which saw Bart Millard and Rick O’Mahony taking second gross with 10 under losing out on the back nine to PJ Curtin and Gretchen Ahern who took the overall gross while the dynamic duo Tim Linehan and J P Murphy took the overall nett with 10 under and a nett of 35 from Frank Riordan and Mick O’Leary who had to settle for second nett with 9 under and 36 nett. Wednesday saw the final week of the Christmas Fayre and the usual suspects were back in the winners enclosure, Noel Mac, P J Curtin, John Ahern and Mick Lehane with PJ picking up an additional twenty euro voucher for holing the designated hole in the hole in one monthly competition.Rumour has it that Mick Lehane is leasing a stall in the Farmers Market with all the biscuits and chocolates accumulated over the past 6 weeks. Margaret Bowen started well on Sunday with Billy Fitton but faded at the half way mark and a late surge wasn’t enough to do the business. A number of fixture are scheduled for the Christmas Season and Members are advised to check the Notice Board. The Captains Day is locked in for Saturday 5th Jan at 1.30 and hopefully the weather will be kind as Pat Twomey is planning a few surprises. Happy Christmas from all at Lakewood and remember no alcohol for Santa on Christmas Eve as he is driving and has a lot of houses to visit.
