Wednesday saw a good turnout for the second week of the Christmas Fayre with Pat Conway managing Noel Mac and Mick Lehane and taking both Nett and Gross for her perseverance scoring 40 for nett and 7 under for gross . The Christmas competition is cruising nicely and well supported which means we are able to give a second nett. Billy Fitton was definitely born lucky or else he is a great motivator as he was in the winners enclosure twice over the weekend taking the nett with Miriam Casey, their last four holes had a potential 16 points and Miriam delivered with a four pointer on 9, 10 and 12 and making sure of a three pointer om 11 making 15 points which put them into pole position winning with 49 points. Bart’s Sunday morning coaching was put to good use by Miriam in the afternoon. Billy and Rick had 45 points gross which sealed the win on the back nine from Bart Millard and Dan Shine. Darren O’Leary and Mary O’Donovan took second nett beating Val O’Leary and Pat Moore on the back nine with Mary’s shot on the 13th the deciding factor. Rumour has it that Darren wont be getting any treats after his dinner this week and when Margaret Moore finds out Pat Moore wont be getting any either.
The death occurred of Noreen Ryan a former Member who just missed her 90th Birthday. Members were reminiscing fondly over the weekend about some of Noreen’s exploits including the fancy dress party that she arranged in the Kilumney Inn but forgot to tell the ladies it was fancy dress and she was the only one dressed up. She was also known to lift her head so she had eyes down written on the toes of her shoes to remind her. Even though she hasn’t played with a while she would come up in conversation if someone met her out and about. Safe journey Noreen I’m sure there is an opening in the fourball of past members who have moved to the next life and you’re guaranteed a place.
