With all the discussion around work and life balance it definitely doesn’t apply to active retirees if the numbers attending the Wednesday afternoon four ball is an indicator. The turnout is poor in comparison to the weekend but the competitive edge is still there and you have to be on your game to get into the winners enclosure especially if Mick Healy is present as he was in the winners enclosure along with Pat Conway and Paddy Dennehy.
Saturday an excellent turnout which saw PJ Curtin and Mick Healy having to settle for second nett with 12 up to Noel McCarthy and George Bolton who had 14. Noel Mac is the man on fire at present with winning the designated hole in one in Sept and the carry over from August to cleaning house with taking 1st and 2nd place in the pooled draw. Billy Fitton and his new Pitching Wedge took the gross with Paddy Dennehy. Sunday morning Noel was back with his country cousin Dan Shine to take the gross with 6 under while Mick Lehane was blessed with J P Murphy to take the nett with a tremendous score of 36 nett. Mary O’Donovan was under observation with her putting as she was hitting them in from all angles, rumour has it that she gets in a bit of practice on the driving range and putting greens in Madrid and apparently has been known to take the balls for a sun break.
Sunday afternoon J P and Pat O’Keeffe took the nett on the back nine leaving the gross to his other half Catherine and Billy Fitton. Catherine raised her game after Billy’s motivational talk on number four which also spurred him to birdie three in a row after a disastrous 4 on the fifth. The Ladies outing is on Saturday night and apparently Gentleman John and JP have been invited due to their domestic skills.
Normal fourballs over the weekend. The AGM is scheduled for Monday 5th November
